Integrated Farming & Sustainable Development
Sustainable, diversified agricultural practices that maximise farm productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and empower vulnerable communities across India.
A Holistic Approach to Agricultural Development
Ubantu Foundation's integrated farming initiative combines agricultural training, technology adoption, gender inclusion, and social equity into a single, coherent programme for rural transformation.
Integrated Farming Systems bring together crop cultivation, livestock rearing, and fishery to maximise resource use and farm productivity — creating resilient livelihoods that are less vulnerable to climate and market shocks.
Beyond farming itself, Ubantu's approach ensures that the benefits of agricultural development reach women, tribal communities, persons with disabilities, and other historically excluded groups through targeted, ground-level interventions.
Our Four Core Interventions
Each intervention area is designed to address a specific dimension of rural poverty — from farm productivity to social inclusion — creating integrated, lasting change.
Training on Integrated Farming
Training on integrated farming aims to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of farmers in sustainable and diversified agricultural practices. Integrated Farming Systems combine crop cultivation, livestock rearing, and fishery to maximise resource use and farm productivity.
Farmers are trained about new techniques where crops and livestock are raised together on the same farm to create a mutually beneficial system. Livestock such as poultry or goats provide manure that enriches the soil, improves crop yields, and enhances overall farm productivity.
Training in crop–livestock–fishery integration for diversified income
Techniques to use livestock manure for soil fertility and yield improvement
Agri-business diversification to reduce dependence on a single crop
Environmental sustainability practices embedded in farm planning
Introduction of New Technologies
Introducing new technologies to farmers and cooperatives — such as food processing units, solar drying systems, and off-grid storage solutions — can significantly improve productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and increase income.
Ubantu Foundation focuses on efficient processing and warehousing technologies, particularly solar-powered systems that preserve produce under optimal conditions while minimising reliance on grid electricity — critical for remote, power-deficient areas.
Food Processing Units
Value addition at source to improve marketability and shelf life of farm produce.
Solar Drying Systems
Preserving perishable produce without expensive or environmentally harmful methods.
Off-Grid Storage
Solar-powered warehousing to ensure reliable cold or dry storage in remote areas.
Post-Harvest Loss Reduction
Lowering energy costs and ensuring food security through better storage infrastructure.
Gender Inclusion & Women's Empowerment
Gender inclusion is fundamental to achieving social equity and sustainable development. When women have equal access to education, resources, and decision-making spaces, entire families and communities benefit. The Ubantu Foundation implements targeted programmes to address the unique social, economic, and structural challenges women face.
The Samanvita Programme, currently being executed in Goa and Delhi, is designed to empower women from vulnerable sections — building their capacities to earn livelihoods with dignity, start their own enterprises, and access social welfare entitlements.

Empowering Vulnerable Sections
Committed to building an equitable society, Ubantu Foundation has taken sincere measures to empower Particularly Vulnerable Target Groups (PVTGs) — including tribal communities, transgender individuals, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
Through grassroots interventions — awareness campaigns, vocational training, SHG formation, and market access support — the Foundation equips these communities with entrepreneurial skills and sustainable livelihoods across Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Delhi.

Formation of SHGs and cooperatives among PVTGs
Training in business development, branding, packaging, and market access

"True agricultural development is not just about higher yields — it is about building communities where every farmer, every woman, and every vulnerable individual has the tools to thrive."
