When a family’s income depends on one crop, one bad season is a catastrophe. Integrated farming is about building more than one source of income from the same piece of land — and losing less of what is already grown.

Ubantu works with local bodies and communities to promote integrated farming, a greener environment and sustainable development practices.
Through training programmes and consultation workshops, farmers are trained to diversify their agri-business — building income from several sources rather than one, while improving environmental sustainability at the same time. At Myorpur in Sonbhadra, 80 farmers, volunteers and field staff were trained in exactly this, including multilayer farming, where crops are chosen and planted by height so a limited area yields far more.
Losing less of what is already grown
Technology for post-harvest losses
Introducing technologies such as food processing units, solar drying systems and off-grid storage solutions can significantly improve agricultural productivity and cut post-harvest losses.
For a smallholder, produce that spoils before it reaches a market is indistinguishable from produce never grown. Storage and drying are unglamorous, and they are often the highest-return intervention available.
The Ubantu Happiness Centre

In March 2026 the Foundation started a new initiative named the ‘Ubantu Happiness Centre’ in Ghiwahi village, Sonbhadra district — promoting the overall well-being of the community through a holistic approach combined with entrepreneurship development programmes.
It reflects the Foundation’s stated vision directly: to promote happiness through social inclusion and an enhanced quality of life for all.
The aim of the initiative is to promote holistic growth and wellness by harnessing the power of traditional knowledge alongside innovative technology solutions, to help build inclusive and resilient societies.

Equity built into the design
