Why volunteer with Ubantu
What your time actually doesDirect impact. The Foundation works on livelihoods, digital literacy, women’s enterprise and community health — including with people who are usually last in line. Your time and skills go into work whose results are visible in a village, not in a report.
Social inclusion. Ubantu works deliberately with marginalised groups, including tribal communities, persons with disabilities and transgender individuals. Volunteering here means being part of building something more equitable.
A cause you actually care about. If the Foundation’s work matches what you already believe in, your contribution will feel like yours rather than a placement.
What volunteering looks like
Practical detailsHands-on experience in grassroots development, inside a small collaborative organisation where you will not be a spare part.
Real fieldwork. A significant share of the time is spent in the field — with cooperative members, women’s self-help groups and rural communities. This is not primarily a desk role.
No age restrictions. Student, working professional or retired — what matters is what you can offer and whether you turn up.
On your schedule. There is a range of opportunities with different time commitments, so it can fit around work or study.
Skills the Foundation regularly needs: training and facilitation, photography, writing and documentation, social media, design, market linkage and business development, data collection, and translation into Hindi or regional languages.
In a volunteer’s own words
Kshitij Srivastava“Volunteering for the Foundation has been a very rewarding experience. I volunteered hoping to give back in some capacity, but I took away so much more. From the beginning, I felt like family and that we were truly making a difference.
My highlight was participating in community outreach and workshops — it was great to be around other people and to be able to see the real difference that we were making. The experience was an eye-opener to the strength of unity and compassion, and it’s made me want to keep working to make a real difference. Ubantu has been an organisation where I learned, matured, and felt truly appreciated.”
