Ubantu Foundation was registered as a social organisation in October 2018 under the Companies Act, 2013.
The Foundation is duly registered and has obtained the certifications required to receive funds under CSR:

Recognition from government
Rajasthan · Goa · Government of India
April 2016 — Government of Rajasthan. The Smart Colony – Smart Ward Initiative, conceived and executed by the Foundation’s Founder in Jodhpur, was appreciated by the Government of Rajasthan and recommended to all municipalities as a success story.
September 2016 — Government of Goa. The Founder was engaged as a Governance Expert by the Urban Development Department, Government of Goa, under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
20 October 2019 — Government of India. The pilot project under the Samanvita programme in Pilgao village was launched by Shri Shripad Naik, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH, in the presence of the Zilla Parishad Chairperson, the Sarpanch and elected representatives of the village panchayat.

A seat at the global cooperative table
International Cooperative Alliance
Ubantu Foundation’s Founder, Shri Sumit Singh, is a Member of the Trade and Business Committee of the International Cooperative Alliance — the global apex body representing cooperatives worldwide.
For an organisation whose sixth programme area is cooperative development, that seat shapes the work: it is how models tested in a Goa village get compared with practice elsewhere, and how partnerships beyond India begin.
Working beyond India
Mozambique · June and July 2026
On 12 June 2026, following the African Cooperative Conference, the Foundation visited the office of Fundação Universitária in Maputo, Mozambique, at the invitation of Dr Nepeti Nicanor, Head of its Project Implementation Unit.
The meeting brought together leaders of cooperative federations, civil society groups and startups from across Mozambique to map a plan for India–Mozambique bilateral cooperation in livelihoods, incubation and technology transfer. Fundação Universitária works across all 11 provinces of Mozambique, supporting small enterprises through incubation, entrepreneurship, research and business intelligence.
Sectors identified where Indian experience could help included agriculture, horticulture, dairy, fisheries, packaging and food processing. Mozambican entrepreneurs presented their own work, among them Eugenio Benhe (food products and eco-tourism), Adelino of Adellart Design, Ms Ivete Chinde of Cooperativa Mulheres, Milton Matediane and Felicina Langa.

A follow-up consultative online meeting was held on 14 July 2026, co-hosted by Fundação Universitária and the Kairali Agriculture Multi-State Cooperative Society, Kerala.

Separately, the Foundation has discussed promoting eco-tourism through cooperative institutions with Mr Ahmad Johanif Mohd Ali, Director of Tourism Malaysia, at his Delhi office.

On 24 March 2026 the Foundation signed an MoU with Hindalco Industries Limited, signed by Shri Sameer Nayak, Cluster Head, in the presence of Dr Sudhir Mahajan, IAS (Retd.), former Chief Executive of the National Cooperative Union of India.

On 29 June 2026 the Foundation signed an MoU with IIT (BHU) Varanasi, signed by Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Dean (Research & Development), in the presence of Prof. Amit Patra, Director, Dr Sandip Ghosh and Dr Richa Tripathi.

Who funds our work
CSR support, by year
2019 — Tulip Diagnostics Pvt. Ltd. funded the Foundation’s first community project, the Samanvita pilot in Pilgao village, Goa, under CSR.
2022 — GIZ India funded consultancy support to the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, and separately funded work with the Panchayati Raj Department, Uttar Pradesh documenting success stories under the MNREGA scheme.
November 2024 — Tower Vision Pvt. Ltd. funded a five-month livelihoods project for women and farmers in Goa, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh under CSR — see the full breakdown below.
May 2025 — Ascend Telecom Pvt. Ltd. funded entrepreneurship development programmes for women and youth in Goa and Uttar Pradesh under CSR.

International engagement

In June 2026 the Foundation’s Director attended the African Cooperative Conference and, at the invitation of Dr Nepeti Nicanor, visited Fundação Universitária in Maputo — meeting leaders of cooperative federations, civil society groups and startups from across Mozambique to map India–Mozambique bilateral cooperation in livelihoods, incubation and technology transfer.
Fundação Universitária works across all eleven provinces of Mozambique, supporting small enterprises through incubation, entrepreneurship, research and business intelligence. Discussion focused on the sectors where Indian expertise can contribute: agriculture, horticulture, dairy, fisheries, packaging and food processing.
A follow-up consultative meeting on 14 July 2026 was co-hosted with the Kairali Agriculture Multi-State Cooperative Society, Kerala, to take the collaboration further.
